Inspiring the future at our Cardross Project

27th November 2024

STEM Ambassadors from the Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA), a joint venture alliance between Morrison Water Services and Aecom, recently treated some very excited pre-school pupils to a visit to our Cardross Project in Dumbarton.

CWA STEM Ambassadors, Paul Milligan and Karen Michie, visited the children at Nursery Rhymes pre-school. Kitted out with their very own Hi-Viz vests and hard hats, the pupils visited the £1.6M flood prevention project, located in Geilston Park, just a short walk from the nursery.

They were immediately intrigued by the large machinery on site, and became even more excited when CWA Site Agent, Dan Baird, invited them to sit on the digger and pose for a photo.

Early Years Practitioner, Wilma Birch said: “We were delighted to be approached by Scottish Water and Caledonia Water Alliance to learn more about their current work in the local park.

“The project team explained their work and helped introduce key health and safety messages to our pre-school children. We learned about the water and wastewater systems and the importance of not flushing wipes and other items down the toilets.”

CWA Trainee Customer Manager, Karen Michie said: “It was lovely to speak with the children and take them round to the site. Despite their young age, they asked some good questions, were enthusiastic and seemed to really enjoy the outing and having a seat in the digger. Doing these kind of STEM activities is really important to educate young people on everything that is involved in the work that we do.”

Across Morrison Water Services, we are passionate about inspiring the next generation of highly skilled, forward thinking and technically competent individuals, in line with our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments.
