Morrison Water Services reaping the rewards from Ashgrove Raw Water Mains repair

1st October 2024

We are delighted to have been recognised at the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW) Hall of Fame Awards Dinner over the summer, for our work alongside DCWW to repair Ashgrove Raw Water Main.

Awarded ‘Reactive Team of the Quarter Y4Q’, our team was recognised alongside the DCWW Capital Team for their rapid response to support the repair of multiple bursts in North Wales.

The emergency repairs, which took place in Summer 2023, required close collaboration between our team, DCWW, supply chain and stakeholders. We mobilised quickly on-site, using our combined expertise and resources to ensure minimal distribution to residents and businesses.

Working to put in place a 24-hour split shift, encompassed of two experienced teams and supervision, we were able to ensure that the repair could take place around the clock. We planned and coordinated the teams to work efficiently, with DCWW Leakage team moving ahead to access the issue, the South Wales team undertaking the repairs and our North Wales team following to reinstate.

Due to the nature of the area of the repair, our teams were sensitive to local resident’s gardens, using ground mats to avoid damage. For repairs to take place, a neighbourhood garage needed to be removed. On completion, the team returned to rebuild the garage and reinstate boundary fencing.

Greg Philips, Framework Manager at Morrison Water Services, said: “I’m incredibly proud that our team has been recognised for their hard work and dedication in the response to the Ashgrove Raw Water Main burst.

“The success of the repair was all down to each team being able to work together efficiently and effectively to mitigate damage to the local community. We understand the incident and repair caused some disruption to residents and we’d like to thank them again, for their patience whilst we carried out these emergency repairs.”

Back to all.
