Morrison Water Services recognised at Utility Week Awards 2024

We are proud to announce that we have been recognised through two shortlisting’s at the Utility Week Awards 2024.

Held on the 3 December, at Grosvenor House Hotel, London, the Utility Week Awards are the gold standard of achievement for UK utilities.

Our first nomination is for the ‘Collaborative Excellence’ Award, for our work with Anglian Water, Hydrosave and the Water Research Council, to deliver the Enhanced Pressure Monitoring Programme.

Launched in March 2023, this pioneering partnership programme is aimed at reducing interruption-to-supply events, identifying levels of supply throughout outages and improving water quality for seven million Anglian Water customers across most of the East of England.

Individuals from more than 15 teams work dynamically to deliver the programme timetable. This includes updating Mercury, the customer contact centre software and developing a close relationship with logistics, stores and supply chain suppliers for access to the correct parts at the right time.

The partnership has challenged normal ways of working and formed best working practices from a willingness to look outside of the box; maximising collaboration, efficiencies and effectiveness to deliver the programme successfully.

Our second nomination, for the ‘Infrastructure Delivery’ Award, highlights our commitment to delivering the Lead Pipe Replacement (LPR) scheme for Thames Water. The project has seen our LPR team identify and replace a network of communications pipes across North and South London.

A vast area, our team has worked through continuous engagement with seven London boroughs, 32 local authorities and their stakeholders. Due to the vast amount of planning and careful preparation, 98% of the work has been completed, as planned, with an estimated 35,412 residents have benefited from improved water quality over the last year.

We would also like to congratulate Scottish Water for their nomination for ‘Team of the Year’ for their Improving Urban Water’s Team, which is transforming waste water systems to deliver environmental improvements in Scotland.

The Improving Urban Water’s Team consists of Morrison Water Services, as part of the Caledonia Water Alliance, Stantec and Mott Macdonald JV, ARC and Clancy.
