Water Division shortlisted for commitment to development at the EUSR Awards 2024
22nd August 2024
Across the Water Division, we are committed to developing the next generation of highly skilled, forward thinking and technically competent people.
We are proud to have been recognised for this commitment through two shortlisting’s at The Energy & Utility Skills Awards 2024.
Firstly, we’d like to celebrate Rebecca Harvey, Communications Advisor, who has been nominated for the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ Award. Rebecca has played a pivotal role in the Water Division’s Women’s Network, as well as leading our Menopause Support Group.
Rebecca is completing her Level 4 Apprenticeship in PR and Communications, and with the skills and lessons learned, has been able to elevate internal communications on our Thames Water Smart Metering contract. From driver safety campaigns to operative back to basics sessions, she has found new ways to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people. Congratulations Rebecca!
We are also thrilled to be nominated for ‘Training Provision of the Year’ Award for our EUSR accredited School of Metering, which provides new recruits with the specialist training to undertake smart metering works.
Delivered by our own Plumbing Trainer, Colin Osborne, the course aims to give new starters, as well as trained colleagues, the skills they need to meter properties and carry out essential plumbing works. The operatives learn specific meter installation methods, knowledge of scenarios and the specialist use of fittings.
Marking the first of its kind in the UK, the implementation of the course has led EUSR to help build other utility schools across the county.
Speaking on our nominations, Maria Murray, HR Director for M Group Services Water Division, said: “To be recognised externally in how we develop our people to realise their potential is a great compliment to our business. To all the nominees, well done and you should be proud of this achievement.”
We’d like to thank all the nominees at The Energy & Utility Skills Awards 2024 and look forward to celebrating at the Energy & Utilities Skills Conference in September.
Back to all.
