MWS and Yorkshire Water celebrate 25 years of working together
27th September 2023
This year, Morrison Water Services celebrates a major milestone in our longstanding partnership with Yorkshire Water.
Casting our minds back to 1998, a lot has changed since our first project for Yorkshire Water, where they outsourced an element of the repair and maintenance contract to us. Over the past 25 years, time has moved on and names have changed, but our collaborative relationship with Yorkshire Water has remained a constant.
Throughout the years, we have gone from traditional repair and maintenance to undertaking many different operational activities across Yorkshire Water’s entire region. Our success and reputation within repair and maintenance helped us win our first clean water Capital Framework with Yorkshire Water in 2010.
The Yorkshire Water P4Y capital framework has been a flagship contract for us since 2010. Morrison Water Services (MWS) has been a major contributor to the infrastructure programme, delivering a whole range of clean and waste projects from concept to commissioning.
We are currently supporting Yorkshire Water with their Storm Overflow Reduction Programme ensuring economic, efficient, and timely solutions are developed and implemented across the Yorkshire Water infrastructure asset base.
We continue to support Yorkshire Water in delivering sustainable solutions, through maximising our specialisms in lining of water and wastewater pipes, to recycling materials so they don’t go to landfill. Our design and build capability has shown Yorkshire Water we are a partner of choice in overcoming the net zero challenge and focusing on carbon through the design life cycle and engineering leadership support.
People have always been at the core of our partnership from the beginning. Our first project together saw many Yorkshire Water staff become part of the MWS team and we are proud that many still work with us today.
Our people have been essential in us becoming an embedded part of Yorkshire Water helping us to grow and diversify in the work we carry out together. We take pride in the fact we have become a significant employer throughout Yorkshire and because of our people, we are known for our ability to help deliver a safe, efficient and reliable service to customers.
Throughout our partnership, we have committed to supporting the local community, contributing to many local projects over the years. We currently donate 50p from every site observation to Martin House Children’s Hospice in Leeds, raising £4,373 for the cause in 2022. As a partnership we also contributed £3,120 to WaterAid last year, through numerous fund-raising activities, including our water cycle challenge.
Speaking on the partnership, Lee Wood, Area Director at MWS, said: “I’m extremely proud of the long and trusted partnership Morrison Water Services have built with Yorkshire Water over the past 25 years. The sector is currently facing into some exceptional challenges, and we continue to support Yorkshire Water to meet these.”
Neil Dewis, Director of Water at Yorkshire Water, said: “Yorkshire Water has been working with MWS to provide repair & maintenance services and new solutions across the water network for the last 25 years. The two companies have been partners developing shared IT systems and customer service initiatives and jointly have delivered more than 100,000 repairs to keep the water flowing in Yorkshire. We look forward to continuing this partnership into the future.”
We welcome the next milestone in our partnership and look forward to many more successful years together.
