Morrison Water Services nominated for Allyship Award at Women in Utilities Awards 2024

21st May 2024

We’d like to congratulate Dave Tann, Framework Director and Ben Harrison, Head of Operations on our Thames Water Developer Services Infrastructure contract, who have both been shortlisted for the Allyship Award at the Women in Utilities Awards 2024.

The Allyship Award aims to recognise individuals who have gone above and beyond to support women colleagues, addressing the gender imbalance, and materially contributing to the success of women within the industry.

Dave Tann has been recognised for leading the senior leadership team in role modelling the importance of our Allyship programme, from attending the first cohort training session, to initiating a revamp of our Standards of Behaviour Charter across our Thames Water contracts.

Dave commissioned an in-house video to role model the type of behaviour our colleagues are committed to within our contract. The video sees Dave, and his senior leadership team, outlining expectations of how people should behave and what is expected within our culture. Dave encourages our people to reach out and speak up in confidence to their line manager and to him directly if they need to.

Ben Harrison is a dedicated member of our team, who not only supports the Water Divisions’ Women’s Network, but is also chair of our REACH (Race, Equality and Celebrating Heritage) Network.

Ben is heavily involved in promoting allyship within the business, helping foster leadership, advancement, and inclusion for women in the workplace. Ben keeps up to date on training and workshops, held by the ‘Lean In’ Programme.

Ben supports anyone who needs it across our business to ensure they feel comfortable and encourages all to bring their best selves to work.

Speaking on the shortlisting’s, Kerry Duke Chair of the Water Divisions’ Women’s Network, said: “The Allyship programme has provided our people with a platform for understanding their privilege and power to be a force for change. Both Ben and Dave have been heavily involved as allies for both our Women’s and racial equity networks, supporting our commitment to build an inclusive workplace culture.

“I'm proud that Ben and Dave have been recognised at the Women in Utilities Awards and wish them luck for the upcoming ceremony.”

We’d like to congratulate all those nominated at the Women in Utilities Awards and look forward to celebrating with you at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London in June!
