Shining a spotlight on Tom Shanahan

21st June 2024

At Morrison Water Services (MWS), we are extremely proud of the work undertaken by our Trunk Main Leakage (TML) team, who have been working with our client, Thames Water, to strengthen three main water pipes in Hackney, London.

Tom Shanahan, Project Manager for the Finsbury Park project, has driven the rehabilitation work undertaken by the MWS team. Throughout the project, Tom has ensured that all stakeholders are kept up to date, working collaboratively to limit disruption to the public.

Tom assisted the team behind Die Draw, the innovative technique being used to reline the 600mm of existing mains between Seven Sisters Road and Finsbury Park Road.

Led by Tom, the TML team has worked with the local community so that events at Arsenal football ground and Finsbury Park can continue. The team’s commitment to avoid open cut trenches has reduced the potential for months of road, business and customer disruption.

We’re delighted that Tom has been recognised for his innovative solutions and determination, not only by us, but also by Thames Water and stakeholders for the project.

Commenting on Tom’s dedication to the project, David Tann, Area Director at Morrison Water Services, said: “Tom has led this project from the very beginning and has been an inspirational leader driving the project forward.

“He has dealt with the many challenges encountered on this complex and technical project, using his skills and considerable experience. The safety of his team and engaging with Thames Water customers and stakeholders is always his number one priority.”

Kate Cassalli, Head of Infrastructure Programme at Thames Water, said: “Working with Tom on the Seven Sisters project has been a pleasure. Tom’s collaborative leadership style has been a key to the success of the project to date- his team obviously respect him, as we do at Thames Water.

“He has been critical in resolving issues, looking to the future when making decisions and ensuring he has buy-in from key stakeholders so that the project can progress. Tom is also well known by our customers in the area as the face of the project- he is a real ambassador for the work we are doing.”

Well done to Tom and the entire TML team for your hard work and dedication. We look forward to continuing to work with Thames Water on this important project.

Back to all.
