The Pipeline Industries Guild has awarded the ‘Utility Pipeline Project Award 2022’ to Morrison Water Services, Die Draw Ltd, Agility Alliance and Thames Water

22nd July 2022

The Pipeline Industries Guild has awarded the ‘Utility Pipeline Project Award 2022’ to Morrison Water Services, Die Draw Ltd, Agility Alliance and Thames Water for its project to rehabilitate a critical 36 inch main on Seven Sisters Road, London.

Working collaboratively, we structurally lined 625 metres of 36 inch cast-iron pipe using the swage lining technique, which hasn’t traditionally been used in the water sector. This addressed 19 known leaks on the main. The method was chosen due to the close proximity of buildings and the risk of causing damage to third party utility assets. Additionally, the main was located outside Finsbury Park tube station and on a principal route for football supporters. The need to maintain hydraulic capacity and minimise traffic and customer disruption were also key considerations.

The award ceremony was held at Savoy Place, London and it was a great opportunity to hear from industry leaders such as James Harrison, Director of London Network of Cadent Gas, Paul Denniff, Network & Safety Director of SGN and Antony Green, Hydrogen Director of National Grid.

The Pipeline Industries Guild has been recognising contributions to the pipeline industry for more than 40 years.  The Utility Pipeline Project Award was introduced in 2016 to showcase technical expertise, achievement and challenges overcome in delivery of utility pipeline projects.

Lawrence Summers, Morrison Water Services Executive Director, said: “Innovative thinking and persistence combined to successfully deliver this project for Thames Water. Our trunk mains leakage team led by Dave Tann, Contract Director, came up with the solution to address this longstanding issue and then persevered to overcome the on-site engineering challenges. This is why we’re known as the go-to contractor when it comes to addressing complex network issues such as this.”

We would like to congratulate everyone involved for another incredible award win.

Back to all.
